In order to apply for a Personal Licence, you must attend and successfully pass a one day course called the NCPLH (National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders). You can do this course here at JW Lees, but there are many local colleges and training providers specialising in licensed trade, where you can do the course too. For details of training providers in your area contact the BIIAB** (of the British Institute of Inn-keeping Awarding Body) who will give you more details or contact us here at JW Lees.

Once you have successfully passed the NCPLH course, and are now in possession of your certificate, the next step is to complete a form for a standard Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) reference check. The application form can be obtained from Disclosure Scotland, Basic EHU Section, PO Box 250, Glasgow, G51 1YU. Alternatively you can complete this application on-line at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk There is a fee for processing a CRB, which is currently £20.00. Please note that only CRB checks less than 28 days old will be accepted by the local authorities, when applying for a Personal Licence.
